1. What is eWitness?
It is the leading edge way to create proof of conception for a creative work or writing. 2. How is it different from getting notarized?
Having a signature notarized is a declaration by the notary that the person who signed is who they say they are. A notarized signature does not provide any proof that the writing above the signature (the concept disclosure) was as it is later found. A document or file containing a creative work that is stamped and locked by eWitness provides proof of conception – that the content of the file or document was in existence in a particular form on a particular day and time. 3. What kind of protection does it give me?
It provides proof that you are the creator of the concept that is contained in the
eWitness-processed document or electronic file. This can be useful in contests over rights in an idea, such as allegations of idea theft.
4. What do I do once I've had my work stamped and locked by eWitness?
You keep and use your eWitness-processed document or electronic file the same way you would handle a backup copy of the document or file. You do not (and really won't be able to) make changes to the document or file once it has been stamped and locked byWitness. You will be able to print it, email it, copy it, etc. at will, without limitation.
5. Let's say I have my work stamped and locked by eWitness, and years go by, and then I find out that I need to prove date of conception – what happens then?
First, the eWitness seal on your document, along with our explanation of what it signifies (link to site) will be convincing enough for most situations. If, for example, you wish to use your eWitness-processed document in a court of law, we can be contracted by you to provide expert testimony regarding our unique tamper-proofing and electronic witnessing process, not only as a general business process, but also as it applies to your particular submission. 6. Why should I use eWitness?
It is the best way to create proof of conception for your ideas, any time, anywhere. 7. Do you keep copies of what I submit?
No. We only make changes and then “lock” your original submission. 8. Do you read, review or otherwise disclose my submissions?
No. We are able, through our proprietary, patent pending process, to create virtually irrefutable proof that a submission was in existence on a particular day in a particular form without the need to review the contents of the submission. 9. Why don't you keep copies?
We believe that the best, most secure and convenient place to warehouse concept
disclosures is with the creator him or herself. This allows creators to organize the storage the way that they want, not the way that we want. Also, by not providing data warehousing services, we are able to keep our eWitness charges extremely low; in most cases there is a flat rate for a submission, with no need for recurring costs related to storage space time or size.
